Membership Fees
How much does it cost to join Laguna Madre Yacht Club?
LMYC is designed to be affordable and welcoming:

Initiation Fee: $100 (one-time)

Are dues prorated if I join mid-year?
Yes! Your first year of dues is prorated based on the month you join, making it easy to come aboard anytime during the year.
Are there different membership types?
Yes, LMYC offers several membership categories:

Resident Member (full membership with voting rights)

Associate Member (non-resident, limited privileges)

Life Member (limited and no longer offered)
What are Associate Member dues?
Associate Members pay $35 annually and maintain a connection to the club with limited privileges.
Are there additional costs beyond membership dues?

When are dues due?
Annual dues are billed in the fall and are due by January 1st each year to maintain active membership status.
What happens if dues are not paid on time?
Members who do not pay dues by the deadline may be subject to suspension or loss of membership privileges in accordance with club bylaws.
Can I try the club before committing to membership?
Absolutely! We encourage prospective members to attend a social or event to get a feel for the club before joining.
Social Events
What are the monthly socials like?
Our socials are relaxed, welcoming, and fun. They typically include:

Many of our socials are themed events and may also include guest speakers, movie nights, and other special activities, making each gathering unique and something to look forward to.
Can I bring guests?
Yes! Guests are always welcome. It’s a great way to introduce friends and family to the club. (Guest fee may apply.)
Is there a dress code?
Casual coastal—comfortable, relaxed, and ready for a good time.
Racing & Sailing
Do I need sailing experience to participate?
Not at all. We welcome all experience levels—from seasoned racers to complete beginners.
Can I crew on someone else’s boat?
Yes! Many boat owners are happy to take on crew. It’s one of the best ways to learn and get involved.
How do I get on a boat?
Let us know you’re interested by submitting our Crew List Form. We’ll help match you with a skipper looking for crew.
What do I need to participate in a race?
To participate in LMYC races:

Skippers must attend the pre-race Captain’s Meeting

A $10 entry fee per boat is required

All participants must have a signed Waiver and Release Form for Racing and/or Sailing on file

Boats must check in on VHF Channel 68 prior to the start
What is the “Booz’n & Cruz’n” class?
This is our fun, relaxed class where motor-sailing is allowed when crossing the starting line. It’s perfect for those who want to participate without the pressure of competition.
What radio channel do we use during races?
VHF Channel 68 is used for check-in and race communication.

Do you sail offshore?
